First Choice Construction Foundation is a BIPOC-owned and led non-profit serving residents in the DMV. We are dedicated to advancing disadvantaged communities and the long-term empowerment of all residents. We fundamentally believe that success is attainable for everyone, regardless of their history or current position. Through apprenticeship, career readiness, and youth engagement programs, we strive to redefine success.
Here at First Choice, we work to dismantle traditional narratives of success, which have historically centered college education as the ultimate indicator of one's future trajectory. Recognizing that college isn’t for everyone and that Black and Brown communities are disproportionately disenfranchised in the college admission process, we work to provide career opportunities that offer employment security and true upward mobility.
With an expansive population served, we are committed to helping all community members, including but not limited to those formerly incarcerated, disabled, living with mental illness, or houseless. First Choice practices DEIJ initiatives in all aspects of our work, from the participants we serve to the organizations we partner with. We wholeheartedly believe that all people deserve to feel successful, and we will work hard until they do!
